Perfect place for a specialty gluten free cake. Ordering a custom cake was very simple as you can converse with the baker over text or email. I asked for a lord of the rings inspired birthday cake. This is an 8 inch vanilla 3 teared cake. Perfect for feeding 20 people! In addition, I got a large party assortment box. I was super surprised when I noticed the cookies also have a custom design. Picking up the goodies was super easy and the cake traveled well in the car on Chicago’s bumpy roads. Overall I will definitely be ordering more gluten free baked goods!
I’ve ordered cakes here 2 times and both times have been impressed. Especially the second time when I ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday. The cake was so beautifully made and it was so delicious!! The chocolate was rich but not too sweet and the buttercream was so smooth and out the fridge reminded me of ice cream! The baker went above and beyond my expectations for my son’s first birthday. The theme was baby dragons. I was speechless when they brought it out. Bonus, the cake tasted amazing too and wasn’t dry. Everyone at our party raved about the cake and design and loved that the wings moved on it too. I would definitely recommend Swedish Girl Bakery to anyone that will listen and will definitely use them again. Also, I tried the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie when I picked up my cake and it was amazing and soft. 12/10 would recommend this bakery 😃
The Swedish Girl Bakery store is a tight squeeze, but it's worth it! This gluten-free bakery is the best I've tasted. I appreciate that I'm not smacked with a high-sugar taste in all the food. My family - who does not need to eat gluten-free - loves the items as much as I do. I also choose to eat dairy-free, and those items are delicious as well. (If I ate dairy, I'd buy the ding dongs every day - they're amazing!) I love the raspberry oat bars and the soft pretzels; the blueberry muffins are soft and have a great bite. I just purchased rice cereal treats, which taste as good as any I've ever eaten, to serve at a party alongside the regular ones my daughter made so our gluten-free, dairy-free guests will be able to enjoy the same treat. My family and I loved the little snack cakes in a cup - I don't remember the real name, but they were in the fridge and were divine. Mouse and cake and a little cookie on top - yum. The other was like eating strawberry shortcake. They were a perfect size to share among the four of us. The staff is always very friendly, and they try to keep the line moving when it gets overcrowded.
I’ve become a great fan of Swedish Girl Bakery! I’ve bought custom decorated cookies for my son’s wedding shower, breads, cookies and our personal favorite-dairy and gluten free cake pops! We recently ordered several dozen for my daughter’s wedding as an alternative choice to wedding cake! My grandson is gluten and dairy free and Swedish Girl makes it easy to let him have sweet treats and bread. Super easy to work with for ordering, too -even custom designs. Highly recommend!

This place is a 5 out of 5. I wish there was a higher level. Everything here is excellent. The owner travels internationally to discover new methods and recipes. Their table bread loaf tastes like bread, not sawdust, not too thick and dry, like really good bread. They have focaccia, donuts (sometimes), cookies, lemon bars, muffins, frozen savory items, and on and on. What they make is limited, but you can check out their IG to know what they will have. My wife must eat GF, I can eat anything. So what I will say to anyone who has celiac or loves someone with celiac: Swedish Girl’s food isn’t “great for something that’s gluten free”, it’s just great. We’ve been to (I think) every GF bakery in a 50 mile radius, and when traveling always try dedicated GF bakeries in other cities. This is hands down the best GF bakery we’ve ever been to. Although people do sometimes line up before it opens - esp, I imagine, if they have donuts, the photo here is from the Saturday before Mother’s Day.
